Open Call: WangShui
JUN 19 – AUG 25, 2019
A translucent video sculpture exploring the haptics of legibility and distance
About this commission
Sliver is a translucent video sculpture installed along The Shed’s windows facing the Hudson Yards Public Square. Weaving together dismantled fragments of LED meshes designed for distant skyline advertisements, Sliver presents unevenly to viewers inside and outside the glass, shifting between image, object, and whisper.
WangShui is an amorphous studio whose diverse projects have been exhibited and screened internationally at venues including SculptureCenter, New York Film Festival, Venice Architecture Biennale, Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive, Jim Thompson Art Center, and EMPAC.
